This Planet I Love is a participatory drawing project to motivate action on climate change. All ages were invited to submit a drawing of something they love in the natural world. On Earth Day 2020, I began sharing one drawing each day on Instagram (@thisplanetilove). Below is a gallery of images submitted to the project- a reminder of what we’re fighting for.

Invitation to Draw: What’s something you love in the natural world?

Australian frilled lizards? Coral reefs? The beech tree outside your window? Your grandmother?
Make a drawing of this and send a picture of it to me, ideally by April 22nd, Earth Day, using this google form.

The form requires you to log in to a google account. If you don’t have one, send me a message on my contact page. I’ll send you the form, and you can attach the image of your drawing to an email.

While many of us are sheltering in place to slow the transmission of the coronavirus, our work to demand a transition off of fossil fuels to slow the rapid warming of our climate remains as important as ever. Maybe, like me, you've noticed in these homebound days that time outside feels even more precious?

Making a drawing can be a way to honor what you love. I'm gathering drawings so we can share our many loves and remember all that we're fighting for. I'll begin posting your drawings on Instagram (#thisplanetilove) starting on April 22, 2020 (Earth Day), and create an online gallery here where you can see the project grow over time. Everyone's drawings are welcome, especially those made by young people.

On the google form you’ll find prompts to help you think about what to draw, suggestions for materials you might use, and tips on how to take a good a photograph of your drawing. You’ll also submit your drawing there. Feel free to leave a message or question on my contact page.
