Lost Luck (2022) is a collection of surrogates I have made to replace luck charms and significant objects that people have lost. Each has been constructed according to a description shared by the person who once treasured it. (Click on an image in the grid to hear each object’s story)

These humble, charmed objects functioned as sources of protection, comfort, magic, or connection. They offered something tangible in the face of uncertainty. Replacing them is futile, of course, but comes from my sincere wish to repair these connections.

Thanks to the many volunteers who shared their stories with me, and to the Joan Mitchell Center and Crosstown Arts for their generous assistance in connecting me to their communities in New Orleans and Memphis.
