Artist Statement
My installations and
videos bring makeshift magic to unexpected places. The projects use
low-tech processes and basic building materials to make extraordinary
interruptions in ordinary spaces, such as a dropped ceiling hung in the
woods, burping papier mache standpipes on the sidewalk, or a tiny vinyl
boat sailing across a bedroom’s waterbed. The work encourages a
suspension of disbelief, where a constructed scenario is persuasive
despite the fact that the means used to create it are fully apparent.
The projects ask people to notice where they are, and, with humor, to
imagine what else might be possible there.
